What You Need to Bring for an Enhanced Inspection

Copy of Current Driver's License

We can copy it when you drop off your vehicle.

Document of Ownership

One of the following (except for homemade or Specially Constructed vehicles):

• a. Certificate of Salvage (New York Form 907A not accepted)
• b. Certificate of Title
• c. Certificate of Origin

Receipts

• a. Bill of Sale or Retention Letter (if bought back from insurance company)
• b. Any receipts for fabrication or repairs done to bring the vehicle into compliance with state law since purchase or since the vehicle was totaled

Copy of Registration Card

Only if wanting to reuse old license plate.

Copy of Insurance Card

Recommended but not required.

Certified Weight Slip

Only for trucks and trailers without unladen weight listed on the Title or Certificate of Salvage.

Appraisal Report

Only if applying for Flood or Recovered Theft Vehicles where the damage does not exceed the replacement value of the vehicle.

Explanation of Build Sheet

Only for Street Rod, Homemade Trailer, Specially Constructed Vehicle, or Modified Vehicle.

Optional Explanation Sheet

Used to explain if you do not have documentation or receipts for any parts. If you do not have receipts for any parts, you need to explain why. Sales tax will be due on an estimated value of those parts. The state has the right to deny accepting this, but they are normally fairly reasonable if the explanation is reasonable.
